I loved the title of that study. Here is another one from the University of Nevada finding that that every thousand bucks of added value decreases the odds of yielding to pedestrians by three percent. https://www.treehugger.com/yet-another-study-confirms-drivers-expensive-cars-are-more-likely-ignore-pedestrians-4847431

I think the way luxury cars are advertised has a lot to do with this. Consider the tagline of BMW, "The Ultimate Driving Machine". The basic message is "you are better than everyone else, you deserve a BMW". That type of pitch appeals to assholes.
